Setting Professional, Financial & Mental Goals

Professional and Financial goals tend to be intertwined since we usually make money from our vocation or profession.

What are your financial goals for 5 – 10 years? What can you do within the next year to help you attain more financial freedom or even afford to start a foundation to help others?

What are your professional goals? Would you like to get a certification; would you expand to another area or even change professions? I’m getting certification to become officially specialized in diabetes care, and I intend to get specializations to serve as a life coach within 1-2 years. Don’t write this in stone, as I listen to my intuition and could change paths as I find directions that could give me more fulfillment. I tend to be a counselor, but I also have other goals that should help me enjoy life more.

Some people also like to add mental goals. For me, cognition is constantly being improved and learned (I’m also a perfectionist, and I’m learning to shed the perfectionism skin) because I want to perfect and communicate clearly in different languages, encompassing cultural habits, expressions, etc. It’s tough to do this the way I want to do it (perfectly, that is). This is why I’m setting one goal of becoming more fluent and more precise when talking to Hispanics (being that I’m Latina, not Hispanic).

These are the goals you can consider setting. Even if you set one goal in one area, that small change will dramatically change your direction, like a one-degree change in latitude can alter the destination of a flight, and I hope your destination is as colorful, bright, beautiful, and satisfying as you aspire it to be.

I wish you a Happy New Year, full of accomplishments, growth, nourishing thoughts and emotions, and fulfillment!
