National Public Health Week
It is National Public Health Week.
Public Health is a set of intentions, laws, and actions that contribute to preventing disease and increasing the quality of life and life expectation of individuals.
Examples of how you can help improve the public health of our communities and country:
You can contribute to improving school meals in the present and the future by reviewing and inspecting the food offered in schools.
Visiting your child's school and talking to teachers and other professionals responsible for building school menus to see whether there are healthier options for your and other children could help improve their health. When I ask parents who bring their children to consult with me, most parents aren't aware of the type of food served in their children's schools. Having the awareness and helping change the menu to a better menu can make a huge difference in their children's lives.
Controlling the amount of time children spend using screens would help prevent diseases and promote health. Also, assisting adults in your family and community to be more physically active contributes to public health.
These are only some ways you can contribute. There are many others, such as promoting meditation, wellness, anxiety management, and the prevention of other diseases.
Remember that preventing disease isn't necessarily the same as promoting health. However, that's a long story for another post.
I love you all and appreciate you.
Let's work to help prevent disease and promote health in our communities and our nation.
