How Meditation Changes Digestive Health

This week, I’ll be highlighting 5 positive changes caused by meditation in our bodies:

Today’s highlight: Meditation improves digestive health.

Digestion is the assimilation, absorption (or uptake) of nutrients. Your body will use the nutrients efficiently if you have good digestive health. And meditation can aid in the achievement of digestive health.

When our bodies are stressed, the brain receives a signal from the gut, sending blood away from digestion.

When we meditate, we activate a calmer signal both from the brain and the gut, improving the efficiency of our digestion.

Consider some meditation apps, such as Calm, Insight Timer, or search for YouTube meditations: starting with 5 minutes per day, grow it to 10 or more minutes per day as you progress. You’ll experience a tremendous shift in mindset, mindfulness and digestion will improve.
